Thank you for visiting the Harney District Hospital Volunteer page. Volunteers serve a very important function in our hospital...after all, in a hospital where personal patient care is our trademark, what's more important than making a patient's stay more comfortable??

Volunteering is also a wonderful opportunity for the volunteer. It provides the ability to do something personally rewarding with your time while serving a vital need in our community.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER???

The types of volunteers at Harney District Hospital are as varied as the needs of each patient and the hospital. Volunteer jobs may include manning the Gift Shop, sitting with a patient in the evening or providing tours of the hospital facility. The list is truly endless. In addition, volunteers will enjoy a flexible schedule. Volunteers determine their interests and the time they are willing to serve.

Volunteer Requirements:
* An interest in helping others in a hospital setting
* 15 years of age or older
* Completion of volunteer program requirements and any trainings

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES...

Volunteers will assist Harney District Hospital (HDH) staff in a variety of tasks related to receptionist, information desk, tours, gift shop, lending library, limited patient assistance (as directed by HDH staff) and transport of patients between departments or surrounding off-campus appointments. Specific positions available:

Clerical Support: Provide necessary clerical support to department with a variety of routine clerical tasks, or assist in timely completion of special project work.
Information Desk: Provide assistance by greeting all patients/family as they enter hospital and provide directions to departments and patient rooms.
Gift Shop: Provide retail assistance in the form of cashiering, stocking, dusting or delivering items to patient rooms.
Patient Assistance: Provide timely patient care assistance with nursing staff as directed by Charge Nurse.

Other duties may be assigned as appropriate based on volunteer interests and ability, as well as department requests.
