The HDH Rural Mobile Clinic is a camp trailer designed and furnished as a medical office. The Mobile Clinic visits the Drewsey, Crane, Fields and Frenchglen areas of Harney County.
The Mobile Clinic functions like a doctor's office, seeing patients for illness or check-ups.The Mobile Clinic can offer many kinds of treatment and is set up for most kinds of exams like sports physicals, gynecological, pediatrics, ENT (ear, nose, throat), immunizations, blood pressure and heart checks. The doctor is also able to treat most injuries or illnesses and help with prescription needs. It is especially helpful if the patient has made an appointment ahead of time so the necessary supplies and equipment are on hand.
The doctor may refer the patient to a local healthcare provider or the hospital if the problem can't be treated in the Mobile Clinic. Seeking preventative care (check-ups on a regular basis meant to catch a problem before it becomes severe) is vital. Many conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and complications with medications can be identified and treated before they become life threatening. Adults often make the mistake of believing regular check-ups are a luxury (of time or money) they can't afford. The Mobile Clinic saves those residents the time and travel it would normally take to visit a doctor.
In most cases, Mobile Clinic costs are similar to seeing a healthcare provider in a clinic setting. If the patient has medical insurance, the Mobile Clinic will bill the patient's insurance company and process their payments through the billing system. Patients will not be refused medical care based on inability to pay.
