Description:

The most important responsibility of a volunteer at Harney District Hospital is providing companionship and a friendly face to hospital patients in a confidential and respectful manner. Volunteers may choose among a variety of specific jobs including:

RN, OR Full Time Circulator

Description:

To provide RN services primarily assigned to Surgery departments, primarily circulating in OR. Call required after hours and weekends.

Hours/Days: Full Time, 40 hours/week
Salary:

$29.27 - $44.68/hour, + $5.25/hour standby

Qualifications:

Oregon RN license required. Circulator experience required.

Description:

To provide RN services primarily assigned to Surgery departments.  Main work area will be PACU, and surgery clinic with additional duties in Oncology. Call may be required after hours and weekends.

Hours/Days: Full Time, 40 hours/week

$29.27 - $44.68/hour, + $5.25/hour standby

Qualifications:

Current Oregon RN license required.  ACLS and PALS within one year of appointment.  At least one year of experience in a Phase I recovery room.  Experience in Critical Access Hospital OR environment preferred.

Admitting Clerk, Temporary

Description:
  • Greet patients, accept payments, write receipts, answer patient questions or refer them to the proper account representative. Provide quality customer service.
  • Admit patients, including those presenting through the Emergency Dept., obtain accurate and complete patient information and signatures.  Coordinate flow of outpatients to various departments
  • Operate switchboard, relay incoming and outgoing calls, page personnel.
  • Cooperate with hospital staff in achieving the common goal of Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.  These duties may include: accurately and timely performing insurance follow up, assisting receipts clerk in accurately processing and posting receipts, data entry of charges or other billing information, processing the hospital mail.
Hours/Days:

Hours and days will include weekends, evenings, nights and holidays as staffing needs require.
Temporary position only, to last 90-120 days.

Salary:

$11.93 - $16.03/hour

Qualifications:

Knowledge of general office practices, computer/data entry procedures, operation of office equipment, use of telephone systems, arithmetic, spelling, English and grammar.  General knowledge of confidentiality concepts and requirements.  Ability to communicate effectively with the public, insurance companies, and staff both orally and in writing.  Equivalent to a high school education and six (6) months related experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.

EVS Worker, Full Time

Description:

Perform cleaning duties in the Housekeeping and Laundry Linen Services Departments to ensure sanitary, orderly, and attractive conditions in the hospital.  Receive daily cleaning assignments.  Follow cleaning schedules and procedures (daily, weekly, monthly) as outlined for the department. Perform various cleaning tasks at all hospital campus areas including surgical unit, such as dusting; mopping floors; emptying trash containers; wash walls, windows, screens, and blinds.  Clean bathrooms and replenish supplies as needed.  Operate electrical cleaning equipment in a safe manner, e.g. vacuum, carpet shampooer, etc.  Inspect areas for cleanliness and sanitary conditions and correct as necessary.  Report any observed repair needs.  Clean, sort, fold and dispense hospital linen.  Requisition necessary cleaning and toiletry supplies.  Stock cleaning supplies, linen, garbage bags, toiletry supplies, etc. in appropriate locations.  Move biological and hazardous waste to appropriate storage unit.

Hours/Days:

Full Time. Shift times vary, weekends included.

Salary:

$10.84 - $14.55/hour

Qualifications:

General knowledge of methods, materials, equipment and solutions used in housekeeping; and, safe usage, care and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.  Equivalent to a high school education, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.  Previous work or volunteer experience performing institutional housekeeping tasks preferred.

CNA/UC Full Time Nights

 

Description:

Provide patient care which includes but is not limited to, bathing, oral hygiene, assisting patient to restroom/shower, assisting patient with meals, performing vital signs, documenting and monitoring patient information.  Reports to and cooperates with RN’s and physicians in providing patient care. 

Provide support to Nursing staff, physicians, patients and families.  Answer and direct phone calls, and take accurate messages.   Organize charts and notify nursing staff of any chart problems. Assist visitors and patients with information needs.  Adhere to and help maintain confidentiality standards of hospital.
Hours/Days: Full Time, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Successful candidate must be available for both weekdays and weekends.
Salary:

$11.93 - $16.03/hour, + $1.70/hour night differential, + $1.00/hour CNA2

Qualifications:

Must have current Oregon C.N.A. certificate, in good standing or be able to obtain by start date.  Experience and C.N.A. 2 certification preferred.  Demonstrated skills in documentation and communication.   Must have physical ability to assist patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, commodes, etc. Must demonstrate skills in documentation and communication, both oral and written.  Desire medical terminology coursework.  Experience in medical environment preferred.

Administrative Assistant, Nursing & Clinical

 

Description:

Provide a full scope of administrative services to Nursing Leadership, clinical department managers and the UR/CQI/CNE, which may include confidential or sensitive information, with frequent dealings with all hospital departments and outside customers.
 
Maintain current knowledge of the hospital E.H.R. system, provide training to nursing and physicians. Monitor error trends to identify E.H.R. training needs.  Gather data for quality initiatives.  Verify and correct patient charges, develop the monthly staff schedule for nursing leadership approval.  Provide overall clerical support for nursing and other clinical managers.

Hours/Days: Full Time
Salary:

$16.35 - $21.98/hour

Qualifications:

Knowledge of general office principles, practices and methods, English, spelling, composition, punctuation and grammar.  Knowledge of business and/or legal formats, and recordkeeping systems.  Equivalent to a high school education plus additional business training and over three (3) years’ experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.

Special Qualification:  Demonstrable knowledge/experience in word processing, spreadsheet, and other computer applications (specifically MS Word, EXCEL, MS Publisher and PowerPoint).
Desirable: Previous experience in the hospital environment or some college course work in a medical field.  Previous experience with electronic health record systems.  Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Harney District Hospital (HDH) has a history of pursuing leading edge projects.  Innovation at HDH ranges from installing a wood pellet heating system in the new facility (saving tens of thousands of dollars in heating costs) to developing physician coverage models for Emergency and Surgery.  With the new hospital facility and a staff skilled and growing, HDH is expanding to include an appropriate range of procedures and services which encourage patients to seek care at home. 

Currently, people make a 130 mile drive for various surgical services; then drive another 130 miles back home to Harney County.  This is not the best care we can give, nor is it the healthiest option for the patient. Anyone in the health care field is aware of the alarming possibility of readmission after surgery.

Family Medicine Physician Full Time,
Obstetrics Optional

Clinic, inpatient and outpatient with rotating ER call once a week. OB optional.  CME, loan repayment, relocation expenses and early commit stipend while in residency.  Salaried position with full medical, retirement and vacation benefits.  Designated a Tier 3 Patient Centered Primary Care Home and Rural Health Clinic.
