Description:

The most important responsibility of a volunteer at Harney District Hospital is providing companionship and a friendly face to hospital patients in a confidential and respectful manner. Volunteers may choose among a variety of specific jobs including:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Description:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker to work in Family Care Clinic and Mental Health settings to help serve mental health needs in Harney County. Work with professional primary care physicians and mental health department staff.

Assist in problem solving issues related to health care system, financial and psychosocial barriers. Coordinate meetings for interdisciplinary group and participate in measuring outcomes and effectiveness of care.

Hours/Days: Full Time
Salary:

$27.00 - $36.30/hour DOE

Qualifications:

Must be licensed in the State of Oregon or have the ability to achieve license within 30 days.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Broad knowledge of principles and practices of mental health care coordination. Excellent time management and work planning skills. Knowledge of mental health or social work related fields and the integration with physical health. Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates ability to perform duties in full job description.

Certified Coder - Inpatient

Description:

Assign ICD-9-CM, CPT or HCPCS codes accurately to individual patient health records and release in a timely manner. Clarify coding assignments with physician when necessary.

Keep abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements bringing identified concerns to supervisor for resolution. Abide by standards of ethical coding and adhere to official coding guidelines.

Hours/Days: Full Time
Salary:

$19.42 - $26.42/hour DOE

Qualifications:

Knowledge in ICD-9 coding guidelines, medical terminology and hold a CCS or CPC certification. The ability to communicate effectively and work closely with hospital personnel and outside agencies. Prefer experience in a Critical Access hospital environment.

Support & Outreach Services, Part Time

Description:

Develop and implement services for Harney County community related to the promotion of healthy lifestyles and/or to support the care they may be receiving from a health care professional or hospital.  Manage programs for regular support group meetings.   Promote programs and services in corporation with Information Services.  Requires some cooperative fundraising efforts to include developing grants and related reporting, encouraging community and business participation.       

Hours/Days: Part Time, 20-35 hours per week.
Salary:

$16.35 - $21.98/hour

Qualifications:

Communications and professional public contact, ability to relate well to other in multiple group dynamics.  Ability to work independently and generate projects alone or in small groups.  Knowledge of basic methods of recordkeeping, general office procedures including general computer skills to include word processing, publication programs and basic document formatting.  Equivalent to a high school education or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.

Call required after hours and weekends.
Hours/Days: Full-time, up to 40 hours/week
Salary:

$29.27 - $44.68/hour; standby + $5.25/hour

Medical Assistant/Office Clerk, Full Time

Description:

Perform a variety of office tasks primarily related to patient customer service and the indexing of external patient records to the patient chart.  Float to patient care tasks as needed; performing patient vitals, work with providers.    
Assist in the coverage of the receptionist duties, including phone scheduling and transfer of calls. 
Follow up promptly with outside entities to resolve problems when medical reports not received.

Hours/Days: Full Time
Salary:

$11.93 - $16.03/hour

Qualifications: Knowledge of general office practices, computer application software and electronic medical records programs, medical terminology and recordkeeping methods.  General knowledge of confidentiality concepts and requirements.  Ability to communicate effectively with the public, insurance companies, and staff both orally and in writing.  Equivalent to a high school education and 6 months medical office experience, or customer service experience in a medical environment.  Prefer a CMA or CNA Certification and 3 years of medical office experience.

Administrative Assistant, Nursing

Description:

Provide a full scope of administrative services to the ACNO and the UR/CQI/CNE, which may include confidential or sensitive information, with frequent dealings with all hospital departments and outside customers.

This position will perform monthly nursing division staff schedules and subsequent adjustments under the guidance of the ACNO. While on duty, calling in staff for coverage will be part of this function.  Provide assistance to the UR/CQI/CNE position by tracking all licenses and education.  In-service organization will be under the direction of the UR/CQI/CNE.  Monitor equipment repairs and research and gather quotes for repairs and purchase of new equipment.  Gather CQI data per chart reviews and submit to UR/CQI/CNE.  Verify or determine if patient services meet or exceed patient expectations per interview and Patient Satisfaction Survey results.
Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of modern secretarial and general office principles, practices and methods, English, spelling, composition, punctuation and grammar.  Knowledge of business and/or legal formats, recordkeeping systems, word processing and spreadsheet applications software (specifically MS Word, EXCEL, MS Publisher and PowerPoint).  Equivalent to a high school education plus additional secretarial training and over three (3) years experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.

Prefer experience in a medical environment.

Harney District Hospital (HDH) has a history of pursuing leading edge projects.  Innovation at HDH ranges from installing a wood pellet heating system in the new facility (saving tens of thousands of dollars in heating costs) to developing physician coverage models for Emergency and Surgery.  With the new hospital facility and a staff skilled and growing, HDH is expanding to include an appropriate range of procedures and services which encourage patients to seek care at home. 

Currently, people make a 130 mile drive for various surgical services; then drive another 130 miles home to Harney County.  This is not the best care we can give, nor is it the healthiest option for the patient. Anyone in the health care field is aware of the alarming possibility of readmission after surgery.

Clinic, inpatient and outpatient with rotating ER call once a week.
